Performance showcase applications have ended and the showcase artists have been announced. Artists are welcome, however, to attend the open mic Friday, August 6, 8pm on the Hotel Paisano patio. Sign up at 7:30 for performance slots at the open mic.
Performance showcases are the heart and soul of the Folk Alliance experience ~ giving your best in an up-close and intimate performance to enthusiastic listeners. Is that person in the audience a music reviewer? A house concert presenter you’ve heard about? A new fan who will tell her friends how great you are?
¡SWRFITA! brings that experience to Marfa. This is a great opportunity to not only be heard but to polish your showcasing skills in a smaller, relaxed environment.
There are very limited showcase slots. Performance times will be somewhere around 15 minutes per slot and 5 minutes between performers. There will be minimal or no amplification. Be ready to walk up and knock it out of the park! Showcases are non-compensated and selected showcase artists are responsible for their own travel, accommodations and meals (except the lunch with donation at the conference). Artists in genres of Singer-Songwriter, Folk, Blues, Acoustic, Americana, Country and Latin are encouraged to apply. There is no fee to apply. Please plan on performing the songs you submit.
Applications are due by July 20 and notifications will be sent on or about July 25.
We’ve tried to make it as easy as possible to apply.
- Online application form with song streams - Below is a form you can fill out to apply. It has areas for song submissions via direct links to songs or YouTube videos . Please provide direct links to song streams, not general links to a web site. We require a minimum of two songs.
- Online application form with song uploads – The form below also has a place where you can upload up to three songs (mp3, m4a, mp4 files only, 7MB maximum each song). Please provide the name of the song if it is not apparent from the file name. We require a minimum of two songs.
- Email – You can email your application and song submissions by emailing the following information to “swrfita @ gmail . com” (remove the spaces): Name, Email Address, City, State, Band Name (if different). Attach your mp3 files as file attachments, maximum size 24MB TOTAL. Please list the song names if they aren’t apparent from the file name.
- Snail Mail – We realize some of you are folk musicians who are total Luddites and reading this from something a friend printed out for you… No problem. If that’s the case you can snail mail your CD and a one-sheet to:

We STRONGLY PREFER online applications – this makes it much easier for us.
